Silk Road Flowers by Far’ha presents “May Day!”

On May 5-6, 10am – 5 pm, Silk Road Flowers by Far’ha gathers the art and fine crafts of over a dozen artists at her studio located at 1833 NE 52nd Av, Portland, Oregon—just in time for Mother’s Day shopping!

Free admission, free drawing for gift basket, and kid-friendly, “May Day!” will also include artist demos by Setsuko Gion and Sylvia Emard.

Do you have a pattern you bought but are too intimidated to know what to do with it?

Register for this class, bring your pattern, your fabric and we’ll walk you through the process of reading the pattern and decifering the many symbols and terminology you’ll run into. Once you’ve got the pattern under control, we’ll talk about fabric, grainline, and lay out your pattern so that you’re ready to cut!

Learn all about applique. How to create the shape you want, stabilize your fabrics, sew them on appropriately and much more! This class is really simple and lots of fun!

In this class we’ll start with a super simple Tote Bag pattern… learn to lay it on fabric, cut in out and construct it in just two hours! This is the perfect class for beginners.

The only thing better than sewing is cooking… and cooking is so much better when you’re doing it in style. Skye Blue of Skye Blue Can Sew will teach you how to make a sweet reversible apron.

Supply List:

You’ll need a non-stretch medium weight fabric such as quilters cottons. Cool Cottons at 2417 S.E. Hawthorne is a wonderful place to purchase these fabrics.

Bring in clothes that don't fit, and learn how to alter them for your body.

This sewing machine basics class is for KIDS ONLY (8 yrs and up). We’ll make a pin cushion while learning how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, sew a straight stitch, and a zig-zag. This class is the most important building block for developing sewing skills!

Becky Ross, Season 9 Project Runway contestant, will teach you the step-by-step process to make this super chic clutch purse. What a perfect accessory for a holiday party or you can even give it as a gift!
