The goal of this class is to help you understand the information on the pattern envelope, pick the correct pattern in the proper size, select fabric and notions with confidence, and achieve success in sewing with commercial patterns.

In this class learn pattern terminology and what the information on and in the pattern envelope means- such as measurements and sizing, fabric suggestions and requirements, notions, fabric layout and a review of pattern markings and directions.

“Triple Zipper”

Learn to sew a Lapped, Fly Front and Invisible zipper! In a combination of demonstrations and sample sewing you will review the steps required for intimidating, yet basic zipper applications. You will leave class with sewn samples and detailed instructions for all three zipper techniques.

"DIY Sewing Machine Maintenance"

Do you know when to change your needle or oil your bobbin hook? Learn basic maintenance and trouble-shooting, as well as an overview of textiles, sewing machines and their technologies, including how to choose the right material and select proper needles, thread, feet and accessories for your projects.

"Sewing Essentials"

Learn to sew fold-over casings, buttonholes, darts and a centered zipper as well as how to work with fusible interfacing. Make a zipper pouch and a draw-string bag!

Gain confidence and techniques needed to take on garment construction. All materials as well as handouts provided. You will build a library of sewn samples and are encouraged to bring your personal sewing machine as long as the machine is in proper working order.
