This year the studio will be offering series of media experiences so youth artists should plan on attending all sessions of a series.

All materials will be provided.

Collage: May 26 & June 2

While the art of collage can be traced as far back as ancient China, this technique has gained a great deal of fame thanks to the more modern work of such artists as Picasso and Matisse. Did you know that this technique can incorporate such everyday items as cotton balls and unused rags? In this two day workshop, we will use found objects as well as acrylic paints to represent an autobiographical or made-up story. The studio will provide a selection of paint colors as well as found objects, but kids are encouraged to bring in fabric, ropes, thread, yarn, or any other materials they may want to include in their pieces.

Collaborative Mural Project: June 9
In this one-day workshop we will create a collaborative mural reflecting on different techniques that we have learned in class over the past few months. We will discus the work of such famous artists as Leonardo Da Vinci and Diego Rivera and then collaboratively develop our own unique theme. Once we are done, this multi-media mural will be featured on the walls of the 100th Monkey Studios.
